ONLINE TEACHING FOUNDATIONS
As Virginia Tech rapidly transitioned to online learning during COVID-19, I designed a foundational eLearning course on best practices for instructors new to the online environment. The interactive modules covered key topics like syllabus creation, lesson planning, reflective practices, assessment, and feedback rooted in proven pedagogical principles. Production was compressed to two months to meet surging campus demand.
Despite the accelerated timeline, learner feedback indicated substantially increased online teaching confidence. Completion rates exceeded expectations. The course laid the groundwork for more advanced training and catalyzed university-wide development of online teaching competencies when needed most.
